The Utah Transit Authority is advancing a system-wide modernization of its fare collection infrastructure, focused on improving rider access and preparing for future account-based capabilities. As part of the agency’s automated fare collection (AFC) program, approximately 140 FareGo ticket vending machines are installed and operating in the field, and the deployment of vehicle-based and stationary FareGo validators is nearing completion and transitioning toward operational use.
Additional AFC capabilities are being delivered through a supplemental service application that supports mobile validation onboard vehicles. These deployments follow a phased implementation approach that supports current operations while establishing the foundation for the delivery and go-live of a future-ready account-based ticketing system planned for this year. Open Payments are planned as a future enhancement as the program continues to progress.
We are grateful for the opportunity to support this initiative and for the strong collaboration with Utah Transit Authority teams and local partners that continues to move the project forward.
