Exhibition Center Messe München

Messe München is an exhibition centre built between 1994 and 1998 in the trade fair city of Riem in the eastern Munich district of Trudering-Riem. It is operated by Messe München GmbH.

Following the relocation of the trade fair centre from the city centre to the former airport site in Messestadt Riem (1998), the trade fair company has one of the most modern and sustainable exhibition centres in the world and was certified as an "energy-efficient company" by TÜV Süd in 2008.  One of the largest rooftop photovoltaic systems in the world is located on the roofs of six exhibition halls.  In addition, the entire exhibition grounds are heated by the geothermal system operated by Stadtwerke München. By using renewable energies, Messe München saves more than 8,000 tonnes of CO2 annually.

With around 40 trade fairs focusing on new technologies, consumer and capital goods, Messe München is one of the world's leading trade fair companies. In addition, Messe München currently organises 14 leading international trade fairs. These include the IAA (International Motor Show), which is being held in Munich for the first time, and bauma, the world's leading trade fair for construction machinery. With more than 530,000 visitors, bauma is the largest trade fair in the world in terms of exhibition space. Other trade fairs include the ISPO sports fair, the f.re.e travel and leisure fair, the international crafts fair and automatica, the trade fair for automation and mechatronics.
