A major milestone for public transport in Scotland: since 16 March, contactless pay-as-you-go (PAYG) has been available at fare gates across the Glasgow Subway and has been operating reliably ever since.
Together with our long-standing partner Strathclyde Partnership for Transport (SPT), we have implemented a future-ready ticketing solution that makes travel across the network simpler, faster, and more seamless.
The solution is based on our fare gates, equipped with integrated next-generation contactless reader technology, and is complemented by our account-based ticketing (ABT) suite. Passengers can simply tap in and out using a debit card, credit card, or mobile wallet – with no prior registration required.
A key benefit is the automatic daily and weekly fare capping, ensuring passengers always pay the best available fare, regardless of how often they travel.
With this solution, we are supporting SPT in further modernising the Glasgow Subway and delivering a more convenient, customer-focused travel experience.
