At the InnoTrans trade fair for transport technology, the managing directors of Rhein-Neckar-Verkehr GmbH (rnv) awarded Scheidt & Bachmann the contract to supply a new fare collection system consisting of ticket vending machines and a background system. The services of the new ticket vending machines range from cash to contactless card payment, from departure information to emergency call buttons and, according to model, exceed far beyond mere issuing of tickets.

Improvement of customer service

The new ticket vending machines, ordered by a Europe-wide award procedure, will replace existing older generation vending machines in Heidelberg and Mannheim. The new devices are barrier-free and enable passengers to pay in cash, by debit or credit card, including contactless Nearfield Communication (NFC). The highest security requirements are taken into account. An emergency call button is provided as standard and can optionally be equipped with a second display for dynamic passenger information (DFI). In addition, personalised ticket and travel information will be available on the touch display in conjunction with the mobile phone ticket app. For long term, a decision will be made to purchase 80 additional ticket vending machines to replace previous generations and expand the range of services offered.

A handshake for more customer service: Following a Europe-wide invitation to tender, the managing directors of Rhein-Neckar-Verkehr GmbH (rnv), Martin in der Beek and Christian Volz, awarded Scheidt & Bachmann with the contract for the new fare collection system, represented by Mike AX and Paul Schmitz.
